
“All Coast Salish Relatives, We Welcome You” — The two eagles in the top center of the logo represent the Coast Salish People, who are one. The Coast Salish woman in the middle is surrounded by the Coast Salish clan mothers standing together as one. The Killer Whale and Canadian geese represent the sea and the land.
About the Artist:
Master Carver for the Tulalip Tribes, Joe is of Snohomish and Snoqualmie decent. Joe designed this spindle whirl logo for the Coast Salish Gathering February 27–29, 2008. He also helped to carve the canoe for the First Canoe Journey. He has been carving since he was four years old. His ole’ soul speaks to him of the spirit world and transforms it into art. He is a fisherman by trade and also builds homes. Cedar is at the heart of his soul….Our Grandmother.
